How do night creams work? Is it possible to enhance their effectiveness?
Night creams are designed to help skin get rid of toxins, while providing nourishment and moisture. They support and promote the skin’s natural renewal potential.
Our skin regains energy and absorbs nutrients while we are asleep. That’s why the traditional night cream formulas are extremely rich. The self-regeneration of skin cells goes on actively between midnight and 4 a.m. If we are in deep sleep during this time interval, the regeneration process is supported by melatonin – a natural anti-oxidant that fights ageing and regulates day-and-night body rhythm.
To maximise results, apply the cream an hour or two before going to bed, giving it enough time to soak in. Any excess should be removed to avoid swelling. Spend some time in the evening getting rid of everything that your body and mind don’t need: take a warm bath with sea salt, have a cup of herbal tea and eat your last meal two or three hours before going to bed. This way any cream, even an ordinary moisturising one, will be twice as effective!
Why do we need serums, how to apply them and how do they work?
A serum is a product with a high concentration of active ingredients. It should be applied onto thoroughly cleansed skin in order to let its formula penetrate deeply. Anti-ageing serums are designed to be used in the evening and moisturising serums to be used in the morning.
Using a serum, apply just a few dollops of the product onto your face – it’s quite enough. Then gently massage your skin with soft pressing upward motions to help the product better absorb.
After applying the serum let it work for at least several minutes and wait till it is fully absorbed, then use a cream from the same product line – it enhances the effect of the serum and protects cells.
Serums help to maintain a youthful appearance and combat the signs of aging. Moisturising serums make all skin types more healthy looking, anti-aging products restore and refresh the look of your skin, infusing it with moisture and active ingredients – a must-have in an efficient skincare program!
Can I use products from different series when caring for my face, or is it best to stick with one?
Products from different skin care series can be combined, and sometimes we even recommend combining them for best results. For example, in your skincare bag you may have antiaging products, products for your individual skin type (dry, oily, combination, etc.), specialist skin care products (pigment lightening concentrate or a detox mask, for example), and universal products (eye makeup remover, oxygen balm).
The important thing is to select the right products based on your skin type, condition and age.
What is the difference between day creams and night creams?
The difference between day and night creams is not only in packaging but in their formula and benefits.
At night, you don’t need to protect your skin from negative effects of sun, pollutants and harsh winds. During the night, your skin requires active nutrition and restoration. That is why night creams are usually richer and thicker. If you apply a night cream during the day, you may feel uncomfortable as it creates an oily sheen and makes it more difficult to apply make-up.
Day creams usually contain SPF ingredients that prevent skin pigmentation and photo-aging. Day cream acts like a make-up base or primer, so it has a lighter texture and is not as thick as night cream.Remember – you can’t replace a day cream with a night cream, and vice versa. All our skin care programmes and collections are developed by our trusted cosmetology experts – they ensure the beauty of your skin!
Why should I use loose powder?
There was a time when all powders were loose– the technology for producing it in a convenient, pocket-sized format simply did not exist. Loose powder isn’t as common these days but it is preferred by professional make-up artists. Loose powder goes on more evenly than pressed powder, and is easier to apply in a thin, subtle layer. It locks makeup in place beautifully and mattifies oily and combination skin.
